Turning over to Satan

1 Cor 5:1 ¶ It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.

2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

What does “To deliver such a one unto Satan that the spirit might be saved.” Mean?

First it is important to know that this takes a lot of backround to understand, but there are some principles to get you started.

By context it refers to sin in the church, specifically incest between a woman and her son. Somehow they are not coming under conviction or listening to the correction of the Lord. There needs to be a clear distinction. The church was to cast out unholy things from the church. They were a blemish and a spot on their feasts.

1Co 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

There were many sick and diseased and go to an early grave because they do not recognize the body of Christ. They sin and think that God “is OK with it”; he is not “OK with it”. If someone refuses correction from the leadership of the church and continues in sin, the protecting covering of the church can be removed, or said another way, they can be cast out from under the protective covering.

Job is a example of Satan being allowed to touch him even though he was not delivered for some failure. Another example could be Nebuchadnezzer. Satan desired to sift Peter like wheat, but Jesus was his protective covering. Sometimes men will not hear unless they discover some of the ultimate consequence for their sin.

This realm of authority is given to the rulers in the church, not just to every baby in Christ. Do not fail to recognize authority and do not speak against it.

Personal experience. Most people given over to Satan go completely crazy and are demon possessed. Normal reason fails. The example in Corinthians was that they eventually repented, so there is hope for those who refuse to obey; that they could eventually come to repentance and this is why they are cast out, in hopes that they will be raised to newness of life again.

Everyone has protection against Satan, otherwise satan would just run without restraint. The mercy and the grace of God holds back Satan, there is always a limitation upon Satan. Repent quickly; but the pride of man keeps people from hearing and obeying.

There is much more to say; and much misunderstanding; walk cautiously in these areas where only leadership has the power to act and understand the goal is salvation.

Question about fulfilling the law

According to matt 7:12 do we fulfill the law and the prophets?

Matt 7:12 ¶ Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Jesus is focusing here on love. He does not say that he fulfills the law and the prophets; he says here that this activity is the law and the prophets. The law and the prophets say many things. There is scripture which talks about fulfilling the law.

Rom 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

It is the will of God that we fulfill all that is in the law. This is what Jesus did.

Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

You must be born of God. This is the relevant question, have you been born of the spirit? Yu cannot walk in the love of God that fulfills the law without this experience. The love we are called to show is a love that is supernatural, it exceeds the love demanded in the law. Jesus gave us one new commandment; that is to love one another with the same love that I loved you with.

Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

You cannot do this unless first you are born of the spirit. There are proofs that you are born of God. John the Baptist demanded fruits of repentance, we want to see you different than you were before. God demands a radical transformation in your life. You cannot be what you were before, God brings to you the change.

You must die; I am crucified with Christ, I die with him he is not my vicarious offering. We have an event where our life ceases, and we can do nothing of ourselves. That is a radical and intense statement. God demands that your life end and you must be changed. He should this for all the time of the law; they had to stay away because they would be destroyed if they even touched the mountain and God’s glory could not be polluted by man. Like light and darkness, God’s glory cannot coexist with the pollution of man.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is it, all others are thieves and robbers.

The only way to fulfill the law is to walk in the love which God has given and because of Adam’s rebellion, man is twisted and perverted and unacceptable to God, therefore there must be a miracle which comes to change you from that state into the state of acceptability. It is a miraculous death, burial and resurrection with Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost will come upon you and give you a new heart and spirit and I will give my spirit to you. THe fruits of this are love, and joy and peace.

Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Wherever the Holy Spirit is he brings Jesus. He comes to live, dwell and abide on the inside of us.

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Therefore; God has made a way for you to fulfill the law. He has made a way for us to love him and to love everyone else and he has made the miraculous way for the power and yoke of sin and pain to be broken so we can do this. You must go beyond the cross to the resurrection.

Now that I have been born of God into the image and likeness of Jesus, crucified with Christ, buried with him in baptism and risen with him, and that you are alive with him and seated with him in the heavenlies, Jesus lives in you. The way to get this done is through repentance in truth.

Jesus demands us to be followers of him and he went around delivering people from the yoke of sin and the power of slavery. The summary of Jesus’ ministry is this:

Mark 1:39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.

The heavens are right here, we are in the house of God and we know it not. God is absolute, he will not have sin in his presence.

Matt 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

Luke 9:1 ¶ Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

How does Jesus define faith? He sees it in a Centurion who says speak the word only and my servant will be healed.

Faith is the supernatural working power of the Holy Ghost. The disciples could not cast the devil out of the boy because they had no faith. Little faith can move a mountain. You must allow the spirit of god to supply to you what you need to do these things and all things that we are commanded to do.

Lift up your heads

Psalm 24:7 ¶ Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

Is this referring to the return of Christ?

The most important meaning is that which is personal. Truly it addresses the individual as well as the congregation or the ark coming through the gates of Jerusalem.

Jesus says he knocks at the door of our life, he is our glory and the lifter of our head. Lift up your head for the king of glory has come unto you. You lift up your head!

There is an opportunity to throw open our life to the king of glory. He is knocking and wants to come in and fill you with his glory. lift up your voice and your hands and sing and praise him, the king of glory shall come in and be your defender and the Lord of battle for you.

Two Witnesses death

Rev 11 regarding the 2 witnesses. If anyone messes with them, fire comes out of their mouth and they have power to shut up heaven and to turn the rivers to blood…

Rev 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

With all these powers at their disposal, how is it that they will be killed?

Clearly, they will lay their life down just as Jesus did. The people of the earth will rejoice at their death, but they will rise and complete the first resurrection and the end will come.

Overlap of Babylon and Assyria

How much of the Assyrian and Babylonian empires overlapped in time and space.?

The basic Assyrian area began with Nimrod. Assyria was used to discipline the Northern kingdom of Israel. The Babylonian empire was around but became ascendant after the Assyrian empire fell. The kingdom of the Seleucids also tracks on top of the same area.

The two witnesses

Who are the two witnesses of Revelation 11?

Revelation 11:6 – They have authority to shut up heaven, that no rain may
fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have authority over the
waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with every kind of
plague as often as they desire.

Although the Bible does not specifically name these two prophets, they are
more than likely to be Enoch and Elijah. What we know is that these two
witnesses have stood before the Lord in heaven since Old Testament times
(Zechariah 4:3Zechariah 4:11-14Revelation 11:4). We also know that
Elijah will return before the second coming of Christ (Malachi 4:5). Both of
these prophets are mortal and will be put to death – at the end of the
tribulation or the 1260 days of prophesying (Revelation 11:3; Revelation
11:7-8).

Only Enoch and Elijah went to heaven without dying; and for them to return
to earth and take up this particular ministry fits the description of these
prophets. Enoch was the prophet who prophesied to the wicked people that
were destroyed in the flood. These people were so wicked that God repented
that He had ever made man (Genesis 6:4-7). These people were so vile that
all the imaginations of their hearts were continually wicked. This was a
time when angels and men cohabited together, and brought forth men that God
never intended to exist (Genesis 6:4Matthew 24:37-38Daniel 2:43). It was
against these people that Enoch prophesied, and although we do not have
certainty about his prophecy in those days (as it is described in the book
of Enoch), we do know from what was recorded in Jude that He prophesied of
the coming days: when the Lord will return with ten thousands of His saints
to execute judgment on all the ungodly; which will also take place at the
end of the 1260 days of the prophesying of these two witnesses (Jude
1:14-15).

Elijah prophesied to the Northern Kingdom of Israel during a time that they
had turned their hearts from God to serve Baal-Zebub (1 Kings 16:31-33; 2
Kings 1:16). He was the prophet who called down fire upon the enemies of
Israel, and also called down fire upon the offering of the Lord in a contest
against the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:241 Kings 18:36-38; 2 Kings
1:10). It was Elijah who executed the judgments and disciplines of God
because of idolatry, and shut up the heavens so that it would not rain (1
Kings 17:1Luke 4:25James 5:17Deuteronomy 11:16-17Leviticus 26:19;
Revelation 13:15). He stood during the time of Jezebel and the worship of
devils, calling the nation of Israel back to the worship of the only true
God (1 Kings 18:131 Kings 19:2). Because the two prophets of Revelation 11
have the power to strike the earth with plagues, as did Moses, there have
been those who have thought that Moses should be one of these prophets.
However, Moses died; and his body was buried in Moab near Bethpeor
(Deuteronomy 34:5-6). Yet if we desire to see a model of the authority to
strike the earth with plagues, then Moses is certainly one of the most
outstanding in the Bible.

During the last three and a half years of the tribulation (or 1260 days),
they will preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus, protect Israel, and also
execute the vengeance of God. God will be at war with the nations of the
earth during this period of time, and will pour out the cup of His wrath
upon their iniquity (Revelation 15:1,7Revelation 16:1). Although things
were terribly wicked in the days of Noah, it will be even worse in the last
days; for the fullness of the mystery of iniquity will be revealed
(Revelation 9:20-21Revelation 14:14-19Revelation 16:9,11; 2
Thessalonians 2:8-12).

Cease from Sin

1 Pet 4:1 ¶ Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

What does it mean that he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin?

2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

No more to the will of men, but now to the will of God. Jesus came to do the will of the Father who sent him. I now live not for myself, but I deny myself, my thoughts, my opinions and my ways. Begin to allow the word of God to train you and mold you and teach you the wisdom of God. The wisdom of God is to learn that the word of God is powerful to the point of creating all the worlds.

Wisdom is hearing the word of faith and then acting upon it. Wisdom is knowing that Father has commissioned us to go and prepared us for the divine anointing to do it. We grow in this anointing by heeding the word of God and living not for ourselves, but for the will of God.

Question 2/28/10

I was always taught that tatoos and earings are against the bible, is that true?

In the Levitical law there are two scriptures in application to the priesthood.

Lev21:1* ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:…

5* They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

Understand that the context was those who did these things were involved in idolatrous worship, like the prophets of Baal who contended with Elijah.

The ear locks which you see on the orthodox jews today are a result of the refusal to cut the corners of the beard.

Lev 19:28* Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

If you were a slave in Israel you got an earring and represented that slavery.

We live in a cleansing flow of the blood as well as the spirit of grace, and whatever was done has been washed away. God will straighten these things out  in anyones life if need be. Enough said.

Bearing the dying of Jesus in the body

In 2 Cor 4:10-11, what points is Paul making? (The wording is difficult)

2 Cor 4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

Work backwards; Jesus was manifest in his mortal body, and Jesus manifest in his flesh.

The life of the Lord Jesus might be made manifest in our body. First, the Gnostics hated this thought, and therefore Paul is saying that he wanted to know Jesus in the fellowship of his sufferings and be conformable to his death.

The monastics tried to mutilate the flesh by cutting and beating themselves.; Example of lady living for Jesus by not bathing for 40 years and having a back covered with maggots.

But what Paul referred to was that he was counted all day long as sheep for the slaughter. The life of the apostle was not a glamorous one, but one which bore the very dying of Jesus, a life poured out like a drink offering on the altar of sacrifice.

Phil 3:9 ¶ And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

The world was crucified to him and he to the world. He knew that his life was both persecution and also the very possibility of death on every hand. In the midst of peril, the glory is often that much greater.

Paul saw himself as a life given in a redemptive work for a lost and dying world, he so identified with Jesus.

This present suffering is not worthy to be compared to that which will be revealed.

1Co 4:9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

The apostle has the manifest signs and wonders; he fought with beasts at Ephesus, but he won though the trial was great. It is about laying our lives down for the gospel not some daily suffering of our own design.

The second temple and prophecy

Some time ago you mentioned that from Malachi, Zechariah and Haggai and more subtley in Ezra and Nehemiah we see prophecy that demands that the second temple was built for Messiah’s appearance and that if he wasn’t at that temple than he’ll never come. Thus proving that Jesus was the Messiah. Where can we study this more?

Malachi 3:1 ¶ Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

Matt 11:10, 11Mark 1:2, 3; Luke 1:76; 7:26-28; John 1:6, 7; Isa 40:3-5; Matt 3:1-3; John 1:15-23, 33, 34; 3:28-30

The message of Malachi was in the context of a temple then being built; the prophecy was that the messiah would come to the temple than existing and that he would be preceded by a messenger. John the baptist was the messenger and Jesus was the messiah

Solomon’s temple had been destroyed by Nebuchadnezzer because of the rebellion of Israel.
